About Your Host

This is the only page on this site which will mention me.  The remainder of this site is dedicated to people in general and to the community of Silver Springs.  However, those who might choose to employ my realty skills have the right to know a little about me.

I'm a man of open country and small towns.  I was born and raised in the small lumber towns of Myrtle Point and Coquille on the southern Oregon coast, and went to college in Klamath Falls.  After that, I went to work for Los Alamos National Labs in northern New Mexico, where I lived for ten years, most of that time 23 miles from town and for part if it seven miles from the nearest telephone.

From Los Alamos, I moved to San Jose, CA, where I began work as an Applications Engineer. (Talk about culture shock!)  During those two years, I started writing software -- a career that kept  my attention for the next two decades.  Finally, my wife of over thirty years and I had reached our limits for noise, pollution, crowds, and congestion, and moved to Silver Springs.

Ironically, it was software that led me to realty.  I designed a web site for a realtor, and my discussions with him showed me that many of the skills and attitudes that I had developed while writing software would work very well in real estate -- attention to detail, self-motivation, professionalism, a concern for the client, and pride in my work.

I see my position as a realtor as that of an assistant.  My intent is to place people in homes that they want and can afford.  I can best accomplish this by providing my clients with honest, unbiased information about specific properties, outlining methods and alternatives for them to reach their goal, and by guiding them through the increasingly complex maze of paperwork and procedures required by government, lenders, and insurers.

About This Site

This site was originally built several years before I began working in realty.  It was intended to be a public service site, and still retains some of that heritage in the maps, community listings, and event calendar.  I hope that you find these useful.
